An outpouring of emotion has greeted the sudden death of Churchdown School Academy stalwart Sheena Burrows.
Shock and sadness have been the main feelings of the many who remember the lead cover supervisor so fondly.
In a letter to parents and carers, headteacher Christopher Belli said:
Mrs Burrows was a wonderful lady who loved working at Churchdown School. She gave 100 per cent, every lesson of every day, to ensure your children were taught well, cared for and respected. During her time, she developed lasting relationships with both staff and students and she will be forever remembered for her honesty, integrity and most importantly her completely selfless approach. She would rarely say no and would find the time for anyone who needed it. Nobody wanted Churchdown School and its students to succeed more than Mrs Burrows, and her infectious personality and candour will be sorely missed by our community.
People commenting on her death on the school’s Facebook page included
Julie Partington. She said: “Rip Sheena. Will always remember you taking me under your wing when I started at India road, an amazing lady and a great friend xxx”
Tarren Randle said: “RIP Mrs Burrows. I know you will be sadly missed. My daughter was heartbroken to hear of your passing today, she said you were the best. Our thoughts are with your family. Xx”
There was also a tribute to Mrs Burrows from the school on the page. It said:
One of the most loving and caring workers that has worked at Churchdown for the past 15 or so years, helping both teachers and students has passed away suddenly. This is a great loss for our academy where we will miss her love and gratitude for all people from friends and family to students at school where she encouraged many. Our thoughts are with her family. Rest in peace Sheena Burrows.
That prompted Sarah Hitchman to add her comment. It read: “Such very sad news. You touched the lives of all 3 of my children and they will be forever thankful to have known you. “God bless you. Sincere and heartfelt thoughts to your family at this very sad time. Much love to you all.
