Police find cat decapitated after it was run over & killed

Police have discovered that a cat found decapitated in someone’s back garden had been mutilated after it was run over and killed.

The remains of the poor animal were found in the back garden of a home in Churchdown yesterday evening.

Officers from Tewkesbury Police took the pet to a vets to carry out a post-mortem after the discovery at about 7pm on Friday, April 27.

It was then they discovered the cat’s head had been removed after it had died, which according to its injuries was most likely from being hit by a car.

Sgt James Wyatt said the cat had been abandoned in a garden without its head.

“We took it to a vets where they said it had been hit by a car and that it had been mutilated after it was killed.

“Needless to say we are investigating it and looking into what has happened. We have had scenes of crime officers there taking pictures.

“There has been a spate of something similar in the Forest and we are considering whether they are linked.”

Steps are also being taken to identify the cat’s owner.

If anybody has any information they should call 101, quoting incident number 395 of April 27.
