Pedestrian Left With Life Threatening Injuries

A woman has been left with life threatening injuries following a serious collission earlier today. The women was airlifted to hospital following a collision near the Hare and Hounds pub in Churchdown this morning. (Tuesday)

It is understood she was struck by a vehicle as she crossed the road outside the new Tesco supermarket.

Police closed off Cheltenham Road East to all vehicles as emergency services attended the scene this morning, just after 10.30am. The male driver of red Peugeot 206 was uninjured.

A rapid response vehicle from South West Ambulance Service was joined shortly afterwards by a regular ambulance and an air ambulance.

The woman has been taken to Frenchay hospital in Bristol.

The road re-opened around three hours later.

Drivers heading through Churchdown were advised to avoid the road between the Elmbridge Court roundabout and the Hare and Hounds Pub at Innsworth Lane.
