Asher Maslin to be sentenced today

The ex-boyfriend of Gloucester hairdresser Hollie Gazzard will be sentenced today for her murder.

Asher Maslin stabbed the 20-year-old from Churchdown to death as she worked at a salon in the city in February this year.

After pleading guilty to murder Maslin will be given a mandatory life sentence. However, Mr Justice Teare, sitting at Gloucester Crown Court, will decide on the minimum term he will spend behind bars.

The 22-year-old, of Benhall Gardens, Cheltenham, had been dating Hollie for around a year before he bought a knife and stabbed her to death.

The attack took place in front of colleagues and customers as she worked at Fringe Benefits and La Bella Beauty salon in Southgate Street.

The sentencing at 10am will be the first for murder to be held in the historic Longsmith Street court for more than 40 years.

Hollie’s family have set up the Hollie Gazzard Trust in her name.
