Work will start on the multi-million improvement of Elmbridge Court roundabout on Monday (22/08).
The £9million project is expected to be completed in September 2017 when the junction will have a new ‘hamburger lane’.
There will also be a widening of the approach lanes and the latest traffic signal technology.
Councillor Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways said, “I’d like to thank people in advance for their patience whilst we carry out these improvements.
“We’ll be doing all we can to reduce disruption to people’s journeys and ask them to bear with us whilst this much needed work is being done.”
The long awaited project has been funded by the Government.
While the work takes place on the roundabout every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum. Lane closures on the approach roads will only appear when absolutely necessary to allow the construction work to take place.
Mr Smith added: “The council is working to cut congestion wherever we can.
“That’s not just good for motorists – it’s good for Gloucestershire businesses, helping us protect and create jobs in our county.”
