Witcombe Festival is one of the fastest growing festivals in the UK and has brought the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Plan B, Faithless, Sigma, Ella Eyre, Example, Lethal Bizzle, Wiley and Tinchy Stryder to its beautiful site in Gloucestershire!
The idea for the festival came when founder Joe Pointon started making his own organic Cider; "Pointon's Cider". The 2012 Festival was the result of having too much cider for one man to drink. Witcombe Cider Festival was born from a suggestion to have a party.
This festival took place at the Village Cricket Club with 200 cider and music fans gathered in a marquee to enjoy a selection of ciders, a few bands and a local X Factor contestant. Back then it would have been crazy to suggest the festival would attract the thousands of music and cider lovers it does today!
The event now attracts over 10,000 attendees across the weekend and has no plans to stop growing. In 2018 the festival moved to its new home on Brockworth Rd to accommodate these huge numbers. This site has capacity to grow further after both Saturday AND Sunday sold out in 2019 when Plan B and Dizzee Rascal headlined.
A killer line-up is soon to be announced for 2020 and the festival is having an exciting rebrand as Witcombe Festival. Witcombe is still fully committed to providing a huge range of exciting ciders and is well aware of its roots. However, with these kinds of numbers and line-ups, the festival has become so much more than a cider festival and wants to show it can offer an experience rivalling any festival in the UK!
"Witcombe Festival is a family and friends run event with an ambition to provide a good time for everyone. Our aim is to create a festival experience with great music and great ciders. Making August Bank Holiday something we can all look forward to…"
Joe and Danny Pointon, Founders of Witcombe Festival.
