Mum Of 11 – Mansion House

Mum of-11 Heather Frost has so many children that she is having a six-bedroom home built for them. Heather, 36, says she has struggled along for five years in two Churchdown houses knocked together for her. In return, the housing provider is building Heather’s six-bed super-house along with 12 other homes.

Heather has hit back at people who criticise her for having 11 children.

Some other mums have called me a **** but I love all of my children. I’d love to have more kids if I could,” she said.

But Heather battled cervical cancer last year – meaning she will never have children again. The jobless mum, of Innsworth Lane, says the house has been a “nightmare”.

She said: We had to go private for a while and I had seven children in a two-bed house. Then we got this three-bed house and they knocked a doorway through to the one next door. It was meant to be for four months but we’ve been here for five years now. It is a nightmare because you can’t keep an eye on the children in the other house and there’s only one door between them which is a fire risk.
I’ve got the older children living over there while I am with the younger ones in this house. I think the new house is going to be ready in July and will have six beds.

She even has to manage two electricity bills and two gas bills.

But the new house will boast an energy efficient design to help keep Heather’s energy bills down.

Robert Oxley, campaign manager at the TaxPayers’ Alliance, said:
It’s scandalous that so much time and money is being spent on one custom built mansion. Many people can’t afford to buy their own home, but have to opt for what their budget allows. Benefits are there to help those who need support, not subsidise a lifestyle that most people paying for them could not afford themselves.

But councillor Derek Davies, lead member for built environment, said:
This is a great example of how we work with housing providers to ensure affordable housing is provided for all our residents’ housing needs.

Judith Tector, operations director for Severn Vale Housing, said:
The properties have not yet all been allocated so if you’re interested ensure you’re register with Gloucestershire Homeseekers which will allow you to bid,
