Emergency closures are still in place on the A40 due to a burst water main in the road that took place this morning.
Severn Trent Water closed one lane on each approach around Elmbridge Court Roundabout while they carry out the work this morning.
But work is still underway to repair the main and restore water to residents in Longford 10 hours on.
The burst main is “entirely unrelated” to ongoing work on the Elmbridge Court Roundabout, Gloucestershire County Council has said.
The A40 Golden Valley Bypass will be shut eastbound (from Gloucester to Cheltenham) from 8pm until 6am this evening.
Crews will be relocating safety barriers along the route as the redevelopment of the roundabout continues.
A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “We’ve discovered a burst pipe on the A40 near to the Elmbridge roundabout. Our engineers have been out to the site and have now tracked down the problem.
“At the moment we haven’t had any reports of customer supplies being affected by the burst so to make sure nobody loses their supply we’ll complete the repairs overnight.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and we’ll work as quickly as possible tonight to get everything returned to normal.”
