Churchdown Panthers are a Standard Charter Football Club with an ethos of “football for all abilities”. Gloucestershire Football Association once again renewed our FA Standard Club Award in March this year, for the 2016-17 season. This is an annual audit, to ensure that our club operates in line with the FA guidelines for Youth Football, and that all of our managers and coaches are satisfactorily certificated to operate their roles.
2016-17 Goalkeeping School
Did you know that Churchdown Panthers have focused Goalkeeper training sessions, that are open to all keepers from other clubs too? Anyone can get involved. There was unprecedented success and improvement last season, with many keepers moving on to Cheltenham Town and West Brom development sides. If you would like to get involved or find out any more information, please contact info@churchdownpanthers.co.uk, or head coach Nigel Morecroft on 07594486259.
The Season So Far….
We have U6, U7 and U8 teams going from strength to strength in terms of numbers. These age groups train and have friendly matches on Saturday mornings.
We also have U9, U10 and U11 teams involved in development fixtures organized by Cheltenham Youth League.
The competitive edge starts at U12 and upwards.
Churchdown have 3 teams in the U12 age group. One of which is leading Division 2 with 5 wins and one draw from their opening 6 games. Another lies 2nd in Division 3 with 4 wins from 5 games. A special mention to Tyler Sallis, who has found the net a remarkable 21
times times in 8 games (including cup games).
Our 2 U13 teams are also going strong, with the Division 1 side having a 100% league record, and the Division 2 team notching up 3 wins and a draw in the opening 5 games.
The U14 Whites team have 2 wins and a draw from 3 league games, have progressed convincingly through the first 2 rounds of the league, and the first round of the Gloucestershire FA County Cup. The U14 Reds are mid table following their promotion at the end of last season.
In the U16 league, one team have a 100% league record scoring an incredible 38 goals and conceding just 3 in those opening 5 league games. The U16 Blacks are mid table and have progressed in the cup too. It is of significant recognition to the development of the players at our club, that Taylor Buckland and Saugat Rai have been called up to the Gloucestershire FA U16 Representative team. Congratulations and good luck to both.
