Appeal to find Good Samaritan who stopped a man jumping onto the A40

Did you help a man to safety from a bridge over the A40 in Churchown on Saturday night?

If so, police would like to thank you.

At 11.20pm on Saturday July 23 officers were called to the Parton Road Bridge over the A40, where a man was standing on the wrong side of the guard barriers.

The man who was in his 20s was brought to safety by police and taken to Wotton Lawn Hospital in Gloucester.

Before officers arrived a member of the public had stayed with the man, speaking to him and held his arm to prevent him from falling. He left the scene before officers could speak to him.

They would like to contact the man to thank him personally for his actions, and they directly helped to save the man’s life.

The Good Samaritan is asked to call PC Newman, number 693, on 101 quoting incident 570 of July 23.
