A long period of roadworks on one of Gloucestershire’s busiest roundabout which has infuriated motorists for decades will begin very soon.
The Elmbridge Court roundabout at the end of the A40 Golden Valley bypass will be radically changed as part of a wider plan to improve travel between Cheltenham and Gloucester.
The works will see new intelligent traffic lights installed and a hamburger lane put in through the middle of the roundabout for traffic heading from Cheltenham to the Forest of Dean.
The scheme aims to cut congestion on the roundabout as well as reduce the number of cars travelling to and from Gloucester and Cheltenham.
The project is currently out to tender which we expect to be awarded to a contractor in May.
Site mobilisation will begin in June 2016 with construction starting in July 2016. The planned completion date is September 2017.
