Motorists heading between Cheltenham and Gloucester will face a year of diversions as work is set to start one of the key routes.
The bridge at Staverton on the B4634 Gloucester Road, which carries traffic over the M5 motorway between junctions 10 and 11 will be closed from Monday, July 13, to August 2021.
Essential work, including concrete repairs, replacement waterproofing, fencing and resurfacing is due to take place on the bridge.
Diversions will be in place via the B4634 and A4019 to the North East of the bridge, and via the B4063 and A40 to the South West.
Project Manager for Highways England in the South West, Mark Collins said: “These repair works on the Staverton overbridge are taking place to allow smoother journeys for motorists and to protect the bridge for years to come.
“We appreciate that the closure will affect journey times and I want to thank drivers and pedestrians for their patience while we carry out these vital improvements.”
All planned roadworks may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
